Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has been working on the management of unwanted and haphazardly placed wires of Kathmandu City in coordination with Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) and Internet Service Provider (ISP).

In a meeting between the NTA, representatives of the ISP and Kathmandu Metro agreed to start the management of the wires from May 25, and the work of removing the unwanted wires attached to the roadside poles was started from 8 am on Monday.

This project has employed at least one person from one internet service company in a single team.

Two of such teams have been operated currently in Asan and Maitighar by Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Every staff of the specific networking agency manage their own wiring by locating the unwanted wires and piling all the wires that has been cut at one place. Likewise, a route plan has been set for Dillibazar-Anamnagar via International Conference Center Naya-Baneshwor and further around the Kathmandu Valley.

''We have a target of completing 25m in a day and the whole project is going to take 3 months to complete if continued in the same pace'', says a staff from Worldlinlk.

The network and internet of the place where this task is being operated shuts down for around 4-5 hrs. So, the workers are seen on their duites from an early hour of the day up to 5 o'clock trying best to not disturb the working hours of citizens.

The purpose of this project is to make the city clean, managed and prevent possible fire. So, the metropolis demanded the removal of excess cable TV, internet and telecom wires. Although the authority said that it is difficult to work at once, it has addressed the demand of the metro. Meanwhile, the authority is also making arrangements for 'utility duct' for effective cable management in Kathmandu.
