Foreign Minister NP Saud is going to Britain today to participate in the coronation ceremony of British King Charles III. Minister Saud scheduled for Britain at 11 am. His personal secretary Deepak Kumar Joshi has informed that he will arrive in Kathmandu on the 26th.

President Ramchandra Paudel was scheduled to go to participate in the coronation ceremony, but since President Paudel could not go due to his health, the government is going to send Foreign Minister Saud to Britain.

The coronation ceremony will take place in London's Westminster Cathedral on May 6 (May 23).

Earlier in 2003, the then King Gyanendra visited Britain as the head of state. Before that, late King Birendra visited Britain in 1980 and 1995 and King Mahendra in 1960. Both the Presidents of Nepal Ram Varan Yadav and Bidya Devi Bhandari did not visit.

According to Buckingham Palace, about two thousand guests have been invited to the coronation ceremony. It is expected that politicians from all over the world, heads of state and government, queens and members of the royal family, distinguished people from different countries of the world will be present at the ceremony.

Coronation ceremonies have been taking place in Westminster Abbey since 1066.

Camilla, who assumed the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in last September, received the title of 'Queen Consort' at the coronation ceremony of King Charles, will also wear the crown of Queen Mary. The then Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka was sent from Nepal to attend the funeral of Elizabeth II.

Nepal had first diplomatic relations with Britain in 1816.
