Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Kalapani region of Darchula, which is included in the Chuchche map of Nepal. On Thursday, Modi visited areas including Gunji and Kuti, which are included in Nepal's map.

Navi, Gunji, Kuti, which are under Indian encroachment, are the villages included in the Chuchche map issued by Nepal in 077. Modi held a meeting in Gunji.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkarsinh Dhami also reached Kalapani region with Modi. Dressed in local attire, Modi also interacted with the Souka community. Nepalis were barred from entering the places visited by Modi. Nepalis are not allowed to go above Sitapul. On 7th June 2017, the Government of Nepal issued a Chukche map covering Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura areas encroached by India.

The administration of Nepal did not know about Modi's visit

The administration of Nepal was not informed about Modi's visit. Chief District Officer of Darchula Kiran Joshi said that the administration has no formal information about it.

"We are not informed about that area, we have also learned from our internal security system that the Indian Prime Minister will come," she said, "Other than that, there is not much information."

Mangalsingh Dhami, Chairman of Byans Rural Municipality, also said that he had no information about the visit of the Indian Prime Minister. "I have not received any information about this visit," he said.
