UAE defeated Nepal by 4 wickets and won the title of Nepal Twenty 20 International series. In the final on Friday, UAE completed the medium target of 163 runs with 1 ball to spare.
Nepal has been defeated at home for the first time under Monty Desai's coaching. Under Desai's training, Nepal was undefeated in 15 matches played at home.
Opener Mohammad Wasim scored 45 runs from UAE. After the Nepalese fielder missed the catch twice, Wasim, the captain, played 22 balls and hit 7 fours and 2 sixes. Another opener Aryansh Sharma scored 25 runs with 2 fours off 26 balls.
Asif Khan 7, Alishan Sarafu got out after 13 runs. Vritya Anand was given a clean run out by Dipendra Singh Airi to raise Nepal's hopes. Avinash Bohra bowled Ali Nasir for 9 runs. But Basil Hameed and Ayan Afzal Khan remained unbeaten and gave victory to UAE. Hamid, who hit the winning run with a six, scored 22 off 16 balls and Aayan scored 5 runs off 3 balls.
Gulshan Jha and Avinash took 2 wickets each from Nepal. Gulshan took 19 runs in 3 overs and Avinash took 27 runs in 4 overs. Kushal Malla got 1 wicket.
Earlier, Nepal, who came into batting after UAE won the toss, lost 8 wickets and scored only 162 runs after playing the scheduled 20 overs at the University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
On the last ball of the first over, Asif's catch was missed by the UAE wicketkeeper, while Kushal's shot on the first ball of the second over went to short fine league.
Nepal got off to a great start by scoring 59 runs losing only 1 wicket in the power play of 6 overs. Asif got out after scoring 7 runs in 12 balls. In the seventh over, Kushal bowled 2 balls and got out after 1 run. Both were bowled by Ayan Afzal Khan.
Kushal scored a fifty off 28 balls. He was dismissed in the next ball. He hit 6 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Rohit Paudel scored 18 runs off 17 balls and Dipendrasingh Airi scored 20 runs off 15 balls. Gulshan Jha could add only 5 runs. Karan KC scored 23 unbeaten runs off 17 balls with 2 fours and 1 six.
