The newly inaugurated Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has accepted an invitation by Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe to make a state visit to Colombo.
Wickremesinghe invited Muizzu to make a state visit to Sri Lanka during a meeting at Kurumba Maldives on Friday evening.
According to the President’s Office, Muizzu accepted the invitation.

At the meeting, Muizzu expressed his gratitude and extended a warm welcome to the Sri Lankan president for visiting Maldives to attend his inauguration.
He said that the visit demonstrated the close bilateral ties between Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Wickremesinghe congratulated Muizzu on his assumption of office.

During the meeting, the two leaders highlighted on the long-standing bilateral relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, and discussed ways to further strengthen the relations between both countries.
They discussed various issues of mutual interest, including education, multiple visa entry for students under 18, and economic recovery efforts.
