Maldivians from all walks of life are doing whatever they can to assist Palestinians, as Israel continues to rain bombs on besieged Gaza for the third week. NGOs, businesses, and individual citizens have organized rallies and conducted different fundraising events.
The Maldivian streaming platform, Baiskoafu has taken the initiative to organize one such event.
Baiskoafu’s “hit” movies and other content will be screened at Schwack Cinema and Olympus Cinema, and aired on ICE TV.
The movies will be screened at the Schwach Cinema in Male’ and Hulhumale’ at 08:30 pm and 11:30 pm on Sunday.

Tickets are being sold at MVR 100.

According to Baiskoafu, all proceeds from ticket sales at the fundraising film festival will go to the Maldivian Red Crescent’s Gaza emergency relief fund.
Baiskoafu also has another fundraising event planned for November 2 – an entertainment festival ‘Falastheenaa Eku Fannaanun’.
This festival, organized in collaboration with local entertainers, will be held from 08:30 pm to 12:00 pm at the Olympus Cinema.
Attendees will be charged an entrance fee of MVR 150.
An official from Baiskoafu told Sun that the biggest purpose of the event is to raise funds for Palestinians. He said that 47 artists have already offered to contribute to the event.
“We will announce ticket sales for this event via our social media accounts tonight,” said Noora Rasheed, Baiskoafu’s art director.
“All proceeds from this event will go to the Palestine Red Crescent via the Maldivian Red Crescent. I want to also note that even if you don’t attend the event, you can also donate from your homes,” she said.
Noora said that several private businesses and government companies have already offered their support for the events.
