KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested the executive chairman of Platinum College, Jiwan Kumar Gurung (John), on Monday. The police said that he was arrested in connection with conducting investigations into the smuggling of 14 kg of gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
According to CIB sources, Gurung was apprehended in Kathmandu following coordination with the TIA customs office. The arrest was made based on this information, and investigations have commenced.
It has been alleged that Gurung was the mastermind in the case of smuggling 14 kg of gold. In this case, Chandra Ghale and Min Bahadur Ghale have been named defendants in a case filed at the Kathmandu District Court with a claim of compensation of Rs 1.40 billion.
