WARSAW, Feb. 26-- North Macedonia men's basketball team took a huge win over Poland, winning 96-71 in their 2025 FIBA EuroBasket qualifier in Sosnowiec, Poland on Monday evening.
Guard Nenad Dimitrijevic led the visitors to victory with 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and Ethan Happ delivered 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Poland's Michal Michalak was close to a double-double with 20 points and nine assists.
Aleksandar Joncevski's team made a dream start as they controlled the game from the beginning.
Poland tried to find their chances from distance, but they made just seven three-pointers from 33 efforts. After the second quarter, the visitors were ahead 47-38, and the hosts couldn't turn the game in their favor.
It was a perfect reaction from Joncevski's men after they had lost to Estonia in their opening qualifier. They now sit in second place in Group H with three points, level with Lithuania, while Poland sit fourth.
However, Poland have already qualified for the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket as a co-host of the tournament, alongside Finland, Cyprus and Latvia.
