SATV 14 April, Kathmandu: The television series Gaun Farka is set to premiere on Sunday.
The TV series is made to reconnect young men and women who have left their homeland out of necessity or ambition to pursue careers elsewhere with local production in their native villages.
Shot in Jhilimile, Dhankuta, ‘Gaun Farka’ attempts to depict reality-based themes through its characters, focusing on the deserted villages of Nepal, fading festivals, traditions, and cultural practices, with an aim to preserve and promote them.
According to producer LB Katwal, although the series was initially produced for broadcast on Nepal Television, due to scheduling constraints, it will now be aired through the ‘Gaun Farka’ YouTube channel.
Co-directed by Bishwamani Ghimire and LB Katwal, the series conveys a powerful message that with dedication and hard work, one can engage in productive endeavours within their own community, thereby contributing economically to society and the nation.
Featuring lyrics by Shankar Adhikari ‘Ghayal’, music by Bikash Chaudhary, and vocals by Narayan Thapa, ‘Gaun Farka’ stars Manmaya Katwal, Mukunda Mainali, Laxmi Nath Timilsina, Asmita Basnet, Ashok Siwakoti, Melina Thakuri, Diwakar Ghimire, Iccha Singh Thakuri, Pratiksha Kafle, Chanda Bhattarai, along with many local artists.
