SATV 17 May, Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), Project Implementation Directorate (PID) has started the process of distribution of Melamchi river water in Balaju and Nagarjuna municipalities of Kathmandu.
The KUKL PID has started the process for distribution of Melamchi river water in Balaju, Buspark, Chapakot, Chyangli, Lazimpat, Belkote, Shivapuri, Khokana under Kathmandu Metropolis-16 and Kageshwori Manohara, Nagarjun, Brindavan Mahadev and other areas of Ward No. 1 and 2 under Nagarjun Municipality.
Tika Bahadur Chaudhary, Chief of the Directorate, said that the process has been initiated for the distribution of Melamchi river water in Balaju and Nagarjuna municipalities with the aim of further improving the water supply in the Kathmandu Valley and providing clean and treated water to the citizens.
The total pipe length under the distribution network improvement work, Ring Road, Balaju will be 3,811 meters. Clean and treated water will be supplied to the citizens from the Balaju storage, according to the Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Limited, Project Implementation Directorate.
After the service come to full operation, it is estimated that 270 million liters of water will be supplied to various parts of Kathmandu daily under the Melamchi drinking water project.
