NEPSE plunges 58.55 points as all sectors close in red
SATV Kathmandu Oct 08: KathmandThe Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a sharp decline of 58.55 points, or 2.19 percent, on Tuesday, closing at 2,604.96 points by the end of the trading session.
According to NEPSE, the Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of Class 'A' stocks, fell by 1.70 percent, while the Float Index, representing actively traded shares, dropped 2.12 percent.
All trading sectors ended in negative territory, with the Others sector suffering the heaviest loss of 4.83 percent. The Hydropower sector declined 2.74 percent, followed by Hotels and Tourism (2.72%), Development Bank (2.38%), and Non-life Insurance (2.04%).
Tuesday's trading saw a total turnover of Rs 4.62 billion, generated from the exchange of 10.34 million shares of 326 companies across 55,450 transactions.
In terms of individual stock performance, only 16 scrips advanced, while 235 declined and one remained unchanged. Century Debenture 2088 (CCBD88) hit the upper circuit limit of 10 percent, whereas Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited (BEDC) saw the sharpest fall of 9.99 percent.
By the close of trading, total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.354 trillion, according to NEPSE data.
