If you are planning to visit Chitwan, which has a fame as a tourist area, there are many beautiful and attractive places here. Chitwan is reached after a journey of 165 kilometers from Kathmandu via Muglin.   Not far from the capital, Chitwan is a good destination to get away from the noise, dust and smoke for a while. Many people may not know any area in Chitwan other than Sauraha. But Sauraha is not only the place to visit in Chitwan. Meghauli, Sirai Chuli, Upardangadi and  Lamo Jharna are also equally beautiful places to visit here.

However, many beautiful places here are lagging behind due to lack of easy roads. Despite the increase in the number of domestic tourists in Chitwan, the number of foreign tourists has not increased relatively. Currently, Chitwan is enjoying a tourist season, but if some good infrastructure can be developed, a large number of tourists could be brought here every year. Let us explore some stunning areas in Chitwan.   Sauraha: The main tourist destination of Sauraha is the national park. Located about 7 km from Mahendra Highway, Sauraha has become the  main destination for tourists going to Chitwan. Cheap to expensive and quality hotels are available here for tourists. Hoteliers say that rooms are  available in Saurah ranging from Rs. 800 to 8,000 for one night.

One can experience the culture and lifestyle of the Tharu, Darai and Bote communities while staying at the homestay here. One can also enjoy Tharu cultural dance, village walk, boating and beautiful sunset from the banks of the Rapti river.   This area is also important for those who want to study wildlife as it is also a breeding centre for elephants. The one-horned rhinoceros, which is considered rare in the world, has also attracted the attention of tourists. Tourists can observe the park's animals, birds, and wild plants through jungle walks, jeep safaris, and elephant safaris.

Tourists from Nepal and SAARC countries who go to see the park through jeep safari have to pay Rs. 1,800 and tourists from other countries have to pay Rs. 2,000. Similarly, Nepali tourists who want to observe elephant safari have to pay a fee of Rs. 1,600, tourists from SAARC countries have to pay Rs. 2,000 and tourists from other countries have to pay Rs. 2,500. Nepali tourists have to pay Rs. 1,200 and foreign tourists have to pay Rs. 1,800 for the jungle walk.    Meghauli: After Sauraha, Meghauli is gradually coming into the attention of tourists. There are many hotels here too. Meghauli, which is about 35 km from Bharatpur Chaubiskothi, is a 'virgin area' for tourists. Very few of the tourists who come to Chitwan go to Meghauli, but this place also has good potential from a tourist point of view.    The crocodile breeding centre here is the main attraction. From here you can visit Chitwan National Park by elephant safari, jeep safari and jungle walk.   A tourism businessman informed that the fee for this is the same as that set in Pati Saurah. Here is Tharu homestay where one can experience the lifestyle of the indigenous Tharu people.   Siraichuli:- It is the highest point of Chitwan. It is located at an altitude of about 1,942 meters above sea level. It is located in the hilly terrain of Chitwan. From here you can see the most beautiful sunrise. Bharatpur and Narayangadh city can be seen from here when the sky is clear.    Trekking can be done from Hudikhola in Dhading and Shaktikhor in Chitwan to reach Siraichuli. From Hudikhola, one can reach the foothills of Siraichuli after 5-6 hours of trekking. There you can study the lifestyle of the Chepang and Giri Puri tribes.

The next morning, after walking from Phedi at 4 o'clock to reach Siraichuli, the sunrise can be seen at 5:30.  The view from here is not less than the sunrise seen from Darjeeling. Another feature of this place is that during the season, one can observe the beautiful scenery of blooming red roses.    Although this place has a lot of potential from a tourist point of view, those who want to travel by vehicle are forced to trek due to the lack of good road arrangements.   Upar Dangarhi:- It is a historical place of Chitwan. It used to be the headquarters of Chitwan distruct. This fort was built by Bahadur Shah's grandson Deb Bhanjan Shah during the war with the British.   This fort is known as a historical site as it is a high place to defeat the British during the war. This place has great potential from the point of view of archaeological tourism.     The sunrise is very beautiful from here. To go here, you have to walk for one and a half hours from Shaktikhor in Chitwan. There are Chepang and Magar homestays in Upar Danggadi. Magar culture, customs and costumes are reflected here.   Long waterfall:- A long waterfall is located at a place called Jalvire, which is 5 km from  Muglin. It is also an attraction for tourists. This is the longest waterfall here. Earlier it was not much cared for, but now it has been developed as a  tourist spot.    Although the number of domestic tourists coming here is encouraging, it seems that the international tourists are still lacking here. However, recently, the Long Waterfall Tourism Development Committee has been formed for its development. There is a rush of tourists here especially in the summer season. Tourists enjoy themselves by soaking in the water of the waterfall.
