KATHMANDU, June 2: Gagan Thapa, the General Secretary of the Nepali Congress (NC), has issued a warning, expressing his determination to challenge party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Thapa, a prominent member of the party, criticized the government for granting amnesty to Resham Chaudhary, an action that contradicts the party's fundamental principles. He also questioned the ratification of the Citizenship Bill by President Ram Chandra Paudel, emphasizing that such decisions were made unilaterally by the party president. Thapa firmly stated that he will oppose such activities.
During a recent event organized by the Nepal Press Union (NPU) in the capital city, Thapa voiced his dissatisfaction with President Deuba's support of the government's actions, which go against the party's stance. He called upon party leaders and workers to rally behind him, urging them to unite in preventing further misguided decisions by President Deuba.
Thapa acknowledged his past mistake of blindly accepting every single decision made by party President Deuba. He emphasized that he was no longer willing to repeat such errors and expressed his desire for change within the NC.
