Police have extracted 227 bullets of drugs from four Pakistani nationals arrested earlier this week for smuggling drugs into the Maldives.

The suspects, who include two 36-year-old men, a 32-year-old man, and a 32-year-old woman, arrived in Maldives on a flight from Pakistan. They were flagged by officials at the airport for suspicious behavior.

All four were taken to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial in Male’ City, where scans showed they had foreign bodies in their stomach.

They were transferred to the medical clinic at Dhoonidhoo Custodial until they passed the drugs.

The Criminal Court extended the remand of all four suspects by an additional 30 days on Friday.

Court documents show the police recovered total 227 bullets of drugs from their stomach. The drugs weighed 2.8 kilograms.

The police recovered 80 bullets from one of the 36-year-old men, 62 from the other, 75 from the third man, and 10 from the woman.

All four have admitted to smuggling and trafficking drugs.
