Thousands of devoted Muslims on Thursday joined a religious procession (Jashne Julush) in Dhaka to celebrate Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the day of birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The crowd carried the national flag of Bangladesh, colourful banners, festoons, and placards displaying “Kalema Shareef”, “Ya Nabi Salam Alaika”, and “Ya Rasul Salam Alaika”.

The procession started from the Suhrawardy Udyan and rounded Shahbagh, Matsya Bhaban, Doyel Chattar and Engineers Institution.

A peace conference was also arranged at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.

Like every year, the procession was organized by Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mainia Maizbhandaria.

Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), Liberal Islamic Alliance, and Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mainia Maizbhandaria Chairman Sayeed Saifuddin Ahmed Al Hasani, led the procession and also presided over the peace conference.

In his speech, the BSP chairman said: "Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the greatest blessing from Almighty Allah to all of creation. He set the proper example of peace, equity, and salvation.”

“The main aim of his arrival on this earth was to build a humanitarian world with the peaceful coexistence of people irrespective of religion, race, and other diversities,” he said.

“Without any bloodshed, he conquered Mecca. He established a harmonious state ensuring the rights of all kinds of people. Women, in particular, were honoured, dignified, and empowered during his rule," he added.

The Liberal Islamic Alliance chairman further stated that religion makes people civilized.

"Extremism, terrorism, and violence can never be the guidance of religions. Today, there is discrimination everywhere. The intensification of apartheid, conflicts, and wars is rising alarmingly," he said.

“Following Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in every sphere of life is the key, as he has been sent as the perfect guide for humanity,” he added.

Saifuddin Ahmed further mentioned: “Wars, sanctions, counter-sanctions are affecting innocent people all around the world directly or indirectly. Millions are suffering from starvation, becoming refugees, and being deprived of basic needs.”

“The people of Syria, Palestine, and Yemen are victims of global and regional politics. The rights of Palestinians must be ensured by effective steps from the global community,” he said.

“We are deeply concerned about the illegal annexation and brutality of Israelis towards Palestinians. Bangladesh has always stood by the people of Palestine since its independence in 1971,” he added.

"Given the global crises we face, from wars to recessions, supply chain disruptions, food security concerns, and the pressing issue of climate change, it is imperative that we place human dignity and rights at the forefront, steering away from an arms race,” said Saifuddin Ahmed.

“On this auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, we urge nations worldwide to adopt policies of peace and employ diplomatic measures to resolve these crises, following the ideology of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)," he concluded.
