Kathmandu, Oct. 10: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has arranged temporary parking inside Dharahara area targeting the upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.
The metropolis has made arrangements to use the underground parking of Dharahara, which is still under construction, during the upcoming festivals.
Ramesh Poudel, the project manager of Raman Construction Company, said that free underground parking service was available from Sunday.
The parking area is jointly managed by Ward no. 22 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sankata Club and the construction company.
“There is the facility of triple basement parking under the new Dharahara tower, but only single underground parking will be used for the free parking facility,” he said.
The current underground parking has a capacity to accommodate 100 four-wheelers and around 500 motorcycles.
According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, during the festivals, parking problem is intensified due to the increase in people’s mobility, so the metropolis has arranged the temporary parking facility.
Poudel further said that current temporary parking facility will be ended after the Chhath festival to continue the remaining construction work of the new Dharahara project.
So far, around 90 per cent construction work of the project has been completed.
