Three crude bombs were recovered from Nilkhet area in the capital on Thursday morning, on the last day of the three-day blockade enforced by BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and their allies.
A bomb disposal unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recovered the unexploded crude bombs around 7:50am.
Shafiqul Gani Babu, officer-in-charge of New Market police station confirmed the matter.
The bombs were spotted on a road near “Niharika Bhaban” around 7:25am, he said, adding that two miscreants wearing helmets riding on a motorcycle came in the area and hurled the crude bombs.
Later, they fled the scene.
However, the crude bombs wrapped in black scotch tape did not explode then, said the OC.
Later, they sought help to the bomb disposal unit. The unit reached the spot around 7:50 and diffused the bombs, he added.
“We are alert in this regard. Police patrolling has been strengthened. All kinds of activities are underway to arrest the criminals,” added the police official.
