Colombo, March 24  - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will record a statement from former President Maithripala Sirisena tomorrow regarding his recent remark on the Easter Sunday bombings in 2019 where he claimed that he was “well aware” of the true perpetrators.

Public Security Minister Tiran Alles yesterday ordered IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon to conduct an immediate investigation into the recent remark by the former President.

Accordingly, the IGP ordered the CID to launch a probe into the former President's disclosure.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday disclosed that he is well aware of the true perpetrators behind the Easter Sunday bombings in 2019.

He made this disclosure while addressing reporters in Kandy.
