ISLAMABAD: The majority of Pakistani people are strongly opposed to violence against wives by husbands and strongly condemn this practice. This was revealed by a Gallup Pakistan survey, in which more than 1,000 people participated from across the country. The survey was conducted from February 29 to March 15, 2024.

In the survey, 89 percent of Pakistanis were strongly opposed to violence against wives by husbands and said that it was not acceptable to raise a hand on a wife.

However, 9 percent supported this practice and called the husband’s violence against his wife as correct, 1 percent took a middle position on this issue and neither openly supported nor opposed the violence of husbands on their wives while 1 percent did not answer the question.
