ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan delegation, led by Secretary Commerce Khurram Agha, will be visiting Kabul from Monday (today) for holding talks on normalising the trade relations under the Afghan Transit Trade (ATT).

The delegation would be on a two-day visit to sort out the differences and take more confidence-building measures to ease tension in border areas.

“Secretary Commerce Khurram Agha will undertake a 2-day visit to Afghanistan on Monday, 25 March 2024, to discuss trade related matters. Pakistan remains committed to promoting trade and people-to-people ties with Afghanistan,” said Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.

Other delegates from Pakistan would include Joint Secretary Ministry of Commerce Maria Qazi, Additional Secretary Commerce Dr Wajid Ali Khan, Director General Transit Trade and Additional Secretary Interior Khushal Khan.

In the aftermath of recent tensions in border areas, it would be the first high-level interaction between the two sides. It is expected to help both sides to normalise overall trade issues and settle the ATT amicably. The transit trade has witnessed a declining trend in recent months.
