Kathmandu, May 16: Today's meeting of the House of Representatives will run behind schedule.
The meeting is going to be delayed than the slated time after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' requested Speaker Devraj Ghimire to postpone the meeting as initiatives were underway to forge consensus with the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, to remove the parliament deadlock, said Ghimire's Press Coordinator Shekhar Adhikari.
Earlier, today's HoR meeting was called for 11:00am. The NC has been obstructing the parliament proceedings, demanding formation of a parliamentary committee for impartial investigation on cooperative fraud scam.
The Prime Minister shared that an environment to allow Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, to speak in today's meeting is being created.
Speaker Ghimire held discussions with the chief whips and the whips of major political parties as well as with Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs at federal parliament building, New Baneshwor, to end deadlock.
