KATHMANDU, July 7: All the gates of Gandak barrage have been opened after the water level in Narayani river rose to above the warning level.
All the gates of Gandak Dam (Barrage) located in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-7 of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapurva) have been opened, according to Liaison Officer of Gandak Barrage Kashinath Harijan. All the 36 gates of the barrage were opened after Binayi Triveni-1 Baguban area was flooded. He said that all the gates of the barrage were opened as the flow of water in the Gandak area continued to increase.
Today at 7:00 AM, the flow of water in Gandak barrage was measured at 440,750 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the south section of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapur) under the East-West Highway has been blocked due to fallen trees. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Paudel said that the road was blocked by a tree falling on the road near Bishwakarma temple in Daunne.
41 sluice gates of Saptakoshi opened
The water level of Saptakoshi river continues to rise with incessant rainfall for the past few days.
As of 6 AM this morning, the water flow at the river was measured at 316,800 cusecs at Koshi Barrage.
According to the Saptakoshi Water Measurement center, 41 sluice gates of the Koshi barrage have been opened after the flow of water increased to warning levels.
As the water level at the Saptakoshi hydro measuring center has crossed the alert level and is still rising, the center has requested the residents living near the Saptakoshi river banks to stay alert and safe.
