SATV Kathmandu Oct 10: A 7.5-magnitude earthquake has struck the Mindanao region of southern Philippines, prompting a tsunami warning. Earlier reports had recorded the quake at 7.4 magnitude.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has also warned of possible aftershocks, saying that a destructive tsunami with waves over one meter high could occur.
Residents of coastal cities in central and southern Philippines have been advised to move to higher ground immediately. No immediate reports of damage have been received.
Earlier, on September 30, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck Cebu province, killing 69 people and injuring around 150 others.
