Gaijatra’s comedy gala from August 28

SATV, Kathmandu, Aug. 27 - Gaijatra is set to bring humour and satire to the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi from August 28 to 30.

According to a press release issued by Brandworth, the organiser, the three-day programme will focus on humour and satire on political tensions, social trends, technology and everyday problems.

The programme will feature performances by some of Nepal’s well-known comedy and satire artistes. 

Through comedy, parody, songs and music, they will highlight current political, social and economic issues, as well as events in the public spotlight. Senior artistes including Manoj Gajurel, Shailendra Singhkada, Laxman Gamnagane, Chakra Dawadi, Suman Karki, Maxam Gaudel, Prabhat Lama and Sita Neupane will perform at the event.

Other performers include Saroj Ghimire, Ashish Khanal ‘Madsab’, Kalpana Khatiwada, Prakriti Giri, Sandesh Subedi, Smarika Phuyal, Tikaram Acharya, Narayan Kadariya and Pushparaj Bhattarai.

Artiste Manoj Gajurel said Gaijatra is a festival of satire that helps preserve Nepal’s cultural heritage. He said this year’s programme would see strong participation from young people and make greater use of technology, according to the press release.
