SATV, Kathmandu, Sept. 04 —On September 4, 2026, emergency relief supplies from the Xizang AutonomousRegion, including Bailey bridges, were officially handed over to Nepal at RiziPort in Shigatse. At the port, a bilingual banner in Chinese and Nepali read: “SharedMountains, Shared Rivers — United in Weal and Woe: Xizang Rushes to Nepal’s Aid”,a poignant testament to the solidarity and mutual support between the twopeoples in times of disaster.

The aid shipment primarily consists of specialized equipment such asBailey panels, reinforced suspension rods, support frames, bridge decking, andI-beams — sufficient to assemble two Bailey bridges. These will be used to helprestore vital transportation links and support rescue and relief operations inNepal's mudslide-hit areas.

On the same day, a handover ceremony was held in Lhasa between the ForeignAffairs Office of the Xizang Autonomous Region and the Consulate General ofNepal in Lhasa. Nepal’s Consul General in Lhasa, Lakshmi Prasad Nirola, signedthe handover certificate on behalf of the Nepali side. The Nepali sideexpressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s swift response in the wake of thedisaster, noting that the Xizang Autonomous Region’s timely assistanceexemplifies the deep bond of friendship between the two regions — connected byshared mountains and rivers, and bound together in times of hardship. Thegesture was hailed as a vivid practice of building a China-Nepal community witha shared future.
