China Daily, November 16 (Sun Ruonan) According to Reuters, IOC President Bach began his visit to Japan on the 15th. During a two-day trip, he will meet the organizers of the Tokyo Olympics on the 16th. This shows that although the world is facing the new crown epidemic, he is determined to host the Olympic Games next year.

In March of this year, due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Bach and former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe decided to postpone the Olympics until 2021. This is Bach's first visit to Tokyo since his last decision.

According to the plan, he will meet Japan's current Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike on the 16th. During this visit, Bach hopes to discuss the key issues with the Olympics host Japan: whether to allow spectators to enter the venues and how to take the best way to safely entertain more than 11,000 athletes from all over the world who have arrived in Tokyo.

A week before Bach's visit to Japan, Tokyo successfully hosted an international gymnastics competition. Organizers used this to test various measures to respond to the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

The news that Pfizer Pharmaceuticals may succeed in developing a vaccine boosted Japan’s hopes for a successful Olympic Games next year, but the Japanese public’s attitude towards hosting the Olympic Games was not. A poll conducted by the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) in July showed that nearly 70% of respondents believed that the Olympics should be further postponed or cancelled.
