…case to be forwarded to the Drungkhag Court

The culprit who had stolen Class XII answer scripts from Tashitse Higher Secondary School in Trashigang is under police custody. The case will be forwarded to the Drungkhag court, according to the Royal Bhutan Police.

Deputy Chief of Police, Crime and Operations, said that the culprit had entered the Teacher Resource Centre from a window which he found unlatched, “entered the exam cell where the answer scripts consignments were stored and stole the answer scripts.”

On January 2, after nicking the answer scripts, the Class XII Science student burnt all the stolen answer scripts to destroy any evidence.

It was found that the secured boxes had been intentionally tampered and specific examination envelopes for certain subjects removed.

The culprit was arrested on February 24. Police found no involvement of other students.

The 2022 Bhutan Higher Secondary Education Certificate examination was completed on 31 December last year.

The case was reported on January 13 while preparing for the evaluation of scripts. BCSEA officials found that four BCSEA examination envelopes containing answer scripts of English II, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics papers from Tashitse HSS were missing.

Forty answer scripts for English II, 25 each for Physics and Chemistry, and 15 answer scripts for Mathematics were missing.

BCSEA immediately contacted the supervising examiner and the school authority regarding the matter.

The BCSEA conducted re-examinations for the four papers on January 19, 20, 21, and 22. “Seven of the 41 Tashitse HSS students who reappeared for the board examination failed.”

Although all 15 Commerce students who re-sat English II passed, only 19 of the 26 Science students managed to clear Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English II papers.
