The metro rail authorities incurred a loss of Tk10 lakh as a glass window of metro rail's coach was damaged after a stone was thrown at it on the way from Agargaon to Uttara North station.

The incident took place between Kazipara and Sheorapara in the capital around 11am on Sunday.

In this incident, the metro rail authorities filed a case under Section 427 of the Penal Code along with Sections 35 and 43 of the Metro Rail Act-2015.

Samiul Quader, assistant manager of Metro Rail's Line Operations Branch, filed the case as a plaintiff with Kafrul police station on Monday night.

It is mentioned in the case that metro rail has suffered a loss of around Tk10 lakh.

Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman, in response to a question whether those involved in the incident have been identified or not, the OC said that no one has been identified so far. 

Multiple police teams are working in this regard, he said.

There are multi-storied buildings next to the incident spot. The concerned authorities believe that miscreants may have thrown stones from a building or roof on the eastern side.

DMTCL Managing Director (MD) MAN Siddique said: “A group has formed, who throw stones at the metro rail. Such incidents happen often. We are also looking for the perpetrators, all of them are on the run now. We will ensure that they are punished in such a way that no one can do such an incident in the metro rail in future.”

After investigating all the issues, the police have started working to bring the criminals under the law.
