Two mobile courts on Wednesday fined five establishments a total of Tk2,10,000 and sealed a warehouse for illegally storing paddy and rice in Naogaon.
Deputy Commissioner Md Golam Mowla said this at the Deputy Commissioner's Media Cell on Wednesday night.
The administration conducted raids in the upazilas of Mohadevpur and Niamatpur and imposed fines on these five establishments.
M/S Taslima Rice Owner in Hat Chakgauri area of Mohadevpur upazila was fined Tk50,000, M/S Thrister Mill Owner in Bagachara area was fined Tk20,000 while Babu Sonar in Rautara Bazar of Bhabicha Union in Niamatpur upazila was fined Tk1,00,000, another establishment under the name of Bakkar Sonar Tk30,000, and Neha Traders Tk10,000.
Mohadevpur Upzazila Nirbahi Officer and Mohadevpur Upazila Magistrate Md Kamrul Hasan Sohag, conducted raids in two of these establishments.
They were fined Tk70,000 for stockpiling beyond the limit, not maintaining purchase and sale receipts, and failing to keep an account of the stored rice.
On the other hand, the Niamatpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Niamatpur Upazila Magistrate Imtiaz Morshed, conducted raids in three establishments. They were fined a total of Tk1,40,000 for offences including storing paddy without a license, exceeding storage capacity, and illegal paddy storage.
Later, a paddy warehouse named after Babu Sonar was sealed.
