The Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division has suspended the High Court's order suspending the results of voting in Dhaka-4 in the 12th national election. Besides, Awlad Hossain, the independent candidate who won the seat, has been ordered to take the oath of office immediately.
The Chamber Judge Court led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order on Wednesday after hearing a petition against the order of the High Court.
Earlier, the High Court suspended the results of the Dhaka-4 constituency national election on Tuesday.
At the same time, the court ordered an investigation into irregularities in the voting in 18 centres of the constituency within 10 days.
The Election Commission was directed to refrain from publishing the gazette declaring independent candidate Awlad Hossain the winner until the investigation is over.
The High Court bench comprising Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Justice Md Bashir Ullah gave this order after hearing the writ of advocate Sanjida Khanam.
Later, on Tuesday, winning independent candidate Awlad Hossain filed an appeal against the High Court's order suspending the results of the Dhaka-4 constituency. The application was made in the Court of Chamber Judge of Appellate Division.
