504,414 students to take SEE
BHAKTAPUR, March 21: The National Examination Board (NEB) has said that all preparations for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) to be conducted from March 28 have been completed.
NEB Chairman Mahashram Sharma said that 2,057 examination centers have been designated for this year's SEE examination across the country which is going to be held from March 28 to April 9.
According to Sharma, around 500,000 students from all over the country will participate in the SEE this year. He said that an examination center has been determined in Japan as well for this year.
Nanda Lal Paudel, Controller of SEE Examination Controller’s Office, said that the NEB has already printed 500,000 question papers for the examinations. He said that even if 504,414 people filled out the exam forms, the number of students taking the exam might be lower.
Paudel said that the NEB has already dispatched the question papers required for the examinations to the police offices of 76 districts across the country and stated that they will be sent to Kathmandu district only on the day before the examination.
"On the examination day of each subject, the question papers will be dispatched to the respective examination centers with police protection shortly before the commencement of the examination," he said.
Paudel mentioned that answer booklets and other necessary materials have been distributed to all seven provinces. Each province and district are managing their preparations, with budget allocations overseen by the Ministry of Social Security under the provincial governments.

Nepali students living in Japan will be able to take the exam from Japan this year as well. The NEB has designated an examination center there for this year's examinations.
Exam Controller Paudel said that 23 students from Japan will take the SEE this time.
According to him, each examination center will be staffed with one chief and one assistant chief. Centers accommodating 300 students will have two assistant chiefs. Additionally, the ratio of one invigilator per two students will be maintained. For centers with 150 to 200 examinees, one assistant will be assigned, while centers with more than 100 examinees will have two assistants.
According to the NEB, security personnel will be deployed based on the needs of each examination center. The District Examination Coordination Committee, coordinated by the Chief District Officer of each district, will be responsible for organizing the deployment of security personnel.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology issued the 'Letter Grading Directive, 2078 BS' on December 22, 2021 through a ministerial decision. In this year's examination, the NEA has implemented the 'Letter Grading Directive, 2078 BS'.
According to the directive, if a student scores less than 35 marks in the theoretical section, they will be marked as unclassified (non-graded) on their results and the original certificate will not be issued. In such a situation, it has been arranged that one can get a chance to take a re-exam of two subjects up to three times.
