SATV, Kathmandu, September 22 | A ceremony was held at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on September 22 for the handover of humanitarian relief supplies from the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), Xiaohongshu, and High-Flyer Quant to the Government of Nepal. The ceremony was witnessed by Narayan Prasad Adhikari, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal; Lokendra Adhikari, Protection Affairs Officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs; Zhou Pan, Minister Counselor and Chief of Staff of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Wu Shengnan, Director of the General Office of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal; Zou Zhiqiang, Country Director of the CFRD Nepal Office; Yang Wenfu, General Manager of China Southern Airlines Nepal; and representatives of relevant partner organizations.

On the day the August 26 flash flood and mudslide disaster struck northern Nepal, the CFRD Nepal Office immediately activated its emergency response plan. Despite disrupted roads and communications, the frontline team traveled by motorcycle for 10 hours to reach the hardest-hit Rasuwa District to conduct a rapid assessment of the disaster situation and relief needs. Based on the needs assessment, and with the support of donors including Xiaohongshu, High-Flyer Quant, A Drop of Life (Hong Kong), and Foxconn Industrial Internet, CFRD urgently allocated 14 tents, 619 food packages, 225 family care kits, and 5,000 solar lamps to assist affected communities in Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.

Meanwhile, with the active coordination of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and with strong support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Administration of Customs, and the Civil Aviation Administration of China, China Southern Airlines provided free air transport support for the relief supplies to Nepal. This shipment, totaling 27 tons and donated by Xiaohongshu and High-Flyer Quant, includes 175 tents, 1,000 cotton-padded jackets, 1,000 cotton quilts, and 1,000 family emergency kits, which will provide essential support to villages and communities affected by the August 26 mudslide disaster and help ease the hardship of those impacted. Following the handover, the Government of Nepal will coordinate the distribution of the relief supplies to disaster-affected areas and families in need, taking practical action to help affected communities move from emergency relief toward recovery and reconstruction. As affected communities work to rebuild their homes and restore their livelihoods, this shipment of relief supplies from China carries a simple yet heartfelt message to the disaster victims: you are not alone.
