SATV, Kathmandu, October 16- Prominent American entrepreneur Elon Musk has accused India of blocking Starlink’s entry into the country. Taking a swipe at Mukesh Ambani, Musk also referred to him sarcastically as “Prime Minister Ambani.”

Musk questioned whether Starlink would be allowed to compete fairly in the Indian market. In response, Reliance Industries issued an official statement on Friday, clarifying its position and declaring that it has never been afraid of competition.

“Like every Indian company, Reliance has grown in a country that welcomes domestic and foreign investment, as well as new ideas—particularly those that improve people’s lives,” the company said in its statement.

Reliance further emphasized that such freedom operates within the framework of the law.

“The Government of India has stated that the same process applies to every applicant, whether Indian or foreign. Jio’s own satellite services are also still awaiting approval,” the company said.

According to Reliance, the company has never feared competition. It maintains that the ultimate measure of success is which company delivers the best service to customers.

Ambani noted that Jio entered India’s telecommunications market in 2016, when it had no customers. Over the past decade, the company has earned the trust of more than 530 million subscribers.

Jio has provided Indians with what Reliance describes as world-class digital infrastructure and some of the most affordable data services globally.

Reliance also said it welcomes competition in the satellite communications sector, including from Elon Musk’s Starlink.
