The UGC has been assigned to initiate this process as per a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division

Starting from the 2023-24 academic year, all public universities in Bangladesh will be brought under a uniform entrance examination, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) has been tasked to initiate this process. 

On Saturday, the Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education Division issued a notification in this regard on the president's orders.

In addition, President Md Abdul Hamid instructed universities to complete the admission test process for the 2022-23 academic year using the cluster system.

According to the ministry's order, as per the president and chancellors of universities' decision, the UGC has been given the responsibility to complete the admission test program in the cluster system in the academic year 2022-2023 with the participation of the public universities which were involved in the cluster admission test in the past.

At the same time, the UGC has been assigned the responsibility to take the necessary initiatives to bring all public universities under a uniform entrance examination from the 2023-24 academic year.

Recently, Jagannath University (JU), Islamic University (IU) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) decided to withdraw from the cluster admission process. 

Prior to this, the UGC had held a meeting with the vice-chancellors of public universities and decided to organize a uniform entrance examination.
