BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's brother Shamim Iskander has again written to the government to send the ailing former prime minister abroad for advanced treatment.
He gave this letter after meeting Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal recently.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal gave this information on Thursday around 3:30pm.
Talking to Bangla Tribune, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said: "Shamim Iskander came two-three days ago… He submitted a letter to me. I sent the letter to the Ministry of Law due to legal complications. He (law minister) will explain now.”
According to BNP and related sources, Shamim Iskander met the Home Minister on Monday.
After that meeting, a copy of the application was sent to the law ministry.
Several officials of the BNP said that no clear message has been received from the government so far.
Wishing to remain anonymous, a source from Khaleda Zia's medical staff, said that for the past few days, there has been internal communication and discussion at various levels of the government.
However, no progress has been revealed till the writing of this report.
The former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
Khaleda Zia was previously admitted to the same hospital for treatment on June 13 and returned home on June 17.
The former prime minister has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and kidney, lung, heart and eye problems.
She has been receiving treatment at the hospital since August 9.
