In a major victory for Cristiano Ronaldo, football club Juventus has been ordered to pay the star footballer €9 million plus interests in unpaid wages case, Goal reported.

The ruling was made by the Court of Arbitration on Wednesday and came following a legal battle fought over the issue of unpaid wages during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ronaldo played for the Italian club between 2018 and 2021 and scored 101 goals for them.

During March 2020 and April 2021, Juventus players had agreed to defer four months worth of their salaries as the club was facing financial difficulties.

The Portugal player had requested to be paid $21.3 million in deferred wages, also known as "salary manoeuvres".

According to a report by La Gazzette dello Sport, Juventus after the pandemic, had not allocated any budget for the payment.

The club never paid back the players, nor did they report the agreement in their financial agreements, which prompted Ronaldo to go on trial to get his salary back.

In 2023, Roma striker Paulo Dybala also reached an agreement with Juventus over the same issue, and received approximately $3.2 million in unpaid wages.

Currently, Ronaldo is signed with Saudi football club Al- Nassr, and will next be seen hosting Al Feiha in the Saudi Pro League.
