SATV 16 May, Kathmandu: At least nine climbers from 8K Expeditions successfully scaled Mt Lhotse immediately after they returned from the summit of the world's highest mountain.

According to Lakpa Sherpa, Managing Director and Expedition Leader at 8K Expeditions, veteran climber Sanu Sherpa along with Ukrainian alpinists Valentyn Sypavin, Viacheslav Kryvosheia, Nina Aleksieieva, Iurii Kostiukevych and Marharyta Diachenko as well as Lakpa Ongjuk Sherpa, Ming Temba Shepa and Dawa Tenzi Sherpa scaled the world's fourth highest mountain.

"Team leader Valentyn Sypavin completed his fourth Everest-Lhotse traverse while record-holding climber Sanu Sherpa also stood atop Mt Lhotse after returning from the Everest summit," Sherpa told THT from the Everest base camp.

Nina Aleksieieva and Dawa Tenzi Sherpa completed Everest-lhotse traverse in just 13 hours, according to Sherpa. Nina Aleksieieva and Dawa Tenzi Sherpa scaled Everest at 7:00am on May 14 and reached the summit point of Lhotse at 8:00pm. Other climbers scaled Lhotse on May 15. Being part of 8K Expedition, all climbers stood atop Everest on May 14.

"This rare double-crown was achieved through exceptional teamwork, resilience, and leadership apart from the challenging extreme weather & exhaustion," Lakpa said, adding that all climbers were now on their way to lower camps.
