SATV, Kathmandu, Feb. 15 - The great Hindu festival of Maha Shivaratri is being celebrated across the country today with great devotion. A large number of devotees have gathered since early morning at the Pashupatinath Temple in the capital.

On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, thousands of pilgrims have arrived not only from different districts of Nepal but also from India and other countries for worship. Security arrangements have been strengthened, and volunteers, security personnel, and health workers have been mobilized to manage the crowd.

Special prayers, rituals, evening aartis, devotional singing, and religious programs are being organized throughout the day. According to tradition, devotees are observing night-long vigils, offering bel leaves, dhatura flowers, milk, and holy water while worshipping Lord Shiva.

Maha Shivaratri is regarded as an important festival associated with the manifestation of Lord Shiva. Religious belief holds that fasting and offering prayers to Lord Shiva on this day fulfills wishes and removes sins.

The temple premises have also witnessed the presence of numerous sadhus and saints, while cultural performances, devotional songs, and religious discourses have added to the festive atmosphere. The government has also stated that transportation management, sanitation, and health services have been strengthened to ensure smooth celebrations.

Thus, Maha Shivaratri is being celebrated across the nation today with faith, devotion, and enthusiasm, as devotees pray for peace, prosperity, and well-being.
