SATV, Kathmandu, Feb. 23 - Nepathya is set to perform in Siliguri, India, for the first time. The band is scheduled to perform on February 28.
For the band, the Siliguri concert will also mark its first performance outside Nepal in 2026. Having just returned from a series of shows across four cities in Nepal last week, the band is now engaged in final preparations for the Siliguri event.
Nepathya has previously performed in nearby Sikkim and Shillong. The northern hill settlements around Siliguri are home to a significant Nepali-speaking population.
According to a press release issued by Nepalaya, when Nepathya has performed in Nepal’s border districts such as Ilam and Jhapa, large numbers of audience members travel from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik, Sikkim, Dooars and Jaigaon to watch the performance.
“This is particularly an effort to create a festive gathering for Nepali-speaking communities across the entire region,” said Bikesh Kayastha, a local organiser.
According to Kayastha, 3,000 tickets had already been sold with a week still remaining before the event.
“Our Nepali-speaking audiences in India have always shown us immense love,” said the band’s lead vocalist, Amrit Gurung, as mentioned in the press release.
On stage, Amrit will be joined by Dhruba Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboard.
