SATV, Kathmandu, April. 10 - Beni Municipality has run a 'ward tourism project'.

The project was implemented by including all 10 wards to lay emphasis on originality and innovation in tourism infrastructure.

Mayor Surat KC shared that the policy was adopted to forge partnership with the municipality, provincial, federal government and the private sector to implement the project in all wards.

“Beni Bazaar, located at the confluence of the Myagdi and Kaligandaki rivers, is known as the gateway to Muktinath, a shared pilgrimage site of Hindus and Buddhists in Mustang”, he said.

“We have focused on infrastructure development and promotion to attract tourists and pilgrims travelling to and from Mustang and stay longer in Beni Bazaar and surrounding areas”.

It may be noted that 800, 000 tourists had visited Mustang via the Beni-Jomsom road in the last fiscal year.

In cooperation with the federal Tourism Ministry, the municipality installed a 21-foot tall, 10-headed statue of the mythical character Ravana from the Hindu epic Ramayana, in Beni municipality ward 5.

In the current fiscal year, the municipality is continuing the beautification project of Galeshwar Bazaar. Likewise, Lovely Hill tourism promotion and Peace Park construction plan are under implementation phase.
