KATHMANDU, May 11: Chairman of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli has said that Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, an MP of his party, who is allegedly involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam said he would surrender himself to the police on Wednesday, but he did not come.

Addressing the UML Central Committee meeting that started on Thursday, Oli mentioned that the closest person to Rayamajhi had called him.

“The closest person [to Rayamajhi] had called me asking what to do next,” Chairman Oli said, “I told him to [tell Rayamajhi to] approach the police. I heard from government sources too that he was going to surrender himself to the police yesterday, but he did not show up.”

Chairman Oli said that since CPN-UML is an anti-corruption party, Rayamajhi has been instructed to cooperate with the legal process.

“No one becomes guilty just because they are accused, but we have suspended him from the party’s secretary position because he should assist the legal process as an arrest warrant has been issued against him,” said Oli.

Oli said that he would speak about those involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam in parliament on May 18.

He added that he would investigate and bring out the truth and facts about those involved in the case.

Stating that he is currently looking for facts about the case, he claimed that he would share the conclusion of the facts in parliament on May 18.
