Dhaka-Cox's Bazar: Parjatak Express to operate from Jan 10, ticket sales begin

The new Parjatak Express train operating on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar-Dhaka route will begin its services from January 10. Advance ticket sales for the train started at 8am on Wednesday.

According to sources from the eastern region of Bangladesh Railway, tickets for the new intercity train for January 10, 11, 12, and 13 are available both online and at the counter.

Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Md Masud Sarwar said: "Bangladesh Railways releases advance tickets for inter-city trains 10 days prior. Accordingly, tickets for four days from January 10-13 have been made available today (Wednesday). Regular tickets will be accessible online and at the counter for the next 10 days starting tomorrow (Thursday).”

Details about the name and seat arrangement of this new train were disclosed in a letter signed by Mohammad Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, assistant chief operating superintendent of the Eastern Zone of Bangladesh Railway on Tuesday.

It was informed that a pair of non-stop inter-city (Parjatak Express) trains, featuring newly imported Korean coaches, will operate on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar-Dhaka route, prioritizing the comfort and safety of tourists.

This new train will consist of 16 coaches with a total of 785 seats, and its train number is 815/816. It will be non-operational on Sundays. The train's watering, servicing, and cleaning will be conducted in Cox's Bazar.

Train number 815 will depart from Cox's Bazar at 8pm and arrive in Chittagong at 10:50pm. It will leave Chittagong at 11:30pm with a 25-minute break and reach Dhaka Airport Station non-stop at 3:50am. Subsequently, it will leave at 3:53am with a 3-minute break at Dhaka Airport Station and reach Kamalapur Railway Station at 4:30am.

On the other hand, train number 816 will depart from Dhaka railway station at 6:30am and arrive at the airport station at 6:38am. It will leave there at 6:43am with a 5-minute break and reach Chittagong at 11:20am. It will depart from Chittagong at 11:40am and arrive at Cox's Bazar station at 3pm with a 20-minute break.
