Month long Celebration to invite Chinese New Year 2024

Kathmandu, Jan 14(SATV): First Chinese New Year celebration in Nepal made a successful inauguration on Sunday in the due presence of Respected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) as Chief guest of the event, 2024 “ Voices of Spring Golden Dreams, “ Cross-border Spring Festival Evening Gala and Chinese New Year reception in hotel Yak and Yeti, Kathmandu.

Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal; His Excellency Chen Song, former Prime Minister; Sher Bahadur Deuba, former Prime Minister; Jhalnath Khanal, Chinese Chargé D’Affairs for Nepal; Wang Xin, high officials of Nepal and China were also present in the opening ceremony of Chinese New Year.

In the event, Prime Minister Prachanda and Ambassador Chen Song jointly inaugurated the logo of the ‘First Chinese New Year Series Ceremony’.

The United Nations lists the Chinese Spring Festival on its list of United Nations holidays. The Chinese New year has also been upgraded as a world holiday since this year.

Prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, delightfully extends good wishes to all delegates on the occasion of the very first Chinese New Year inauguration ceremony on Nepal-China friendship history. He grabs an opportunity to impart Nepal’s clear thoughts on “Taiwan Independence” with the joint statement issued during his recent visit to China. He clarifies, “we have said that we are against Taiwan independence”.

Mr. Dahal focusing on integrity of neighbor friend China, adds, “we are committed not to allow any activities in our nation that are inimical to the interest of China”.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, His Excellency Chen Song wishes, “on the occasion of enclosing the Rabbit year and welcoming the Dragon year that takes the highest flight to development, we need to compose a grand music to sing together for enhancing the friendship between Nepal and China and help eachother’s livelihood wishing for each others betterment.”

Mr. Song narrates Xi Jing Ping’s ethical words that in order to build a community of shared future of all mankind we need to follow the path of peace, development, unbiasedness, justice, democracy and freedom in a worldwide manner.  

Chinese Embassy intending to celebrate Chinese Dragon New Year in Nepal discloses series of more than 10 events, a month long program, which schedules as :

14 January: Yunnan International Spring Festival Gala Chinese Embassy in Nepal welcomes the New Year The opening ceremony of the Chinese New Year celebration series

January 24-25: Anhui Performing Arts Group performs song and dance, folk music, Huangmei Opera, acrobatics and so on,

January 28-30 Tibetan New Year: Gansu Tibetan Song and Dance Group will give two special performances in Kathmandu and Pokhara respectively.

February 3: Lantern lighting in Zigong, Sichuan Province on  Kathmandu’s Tamil Street, Royal Palace Avenue and Durbar Square will be illuminated with more than a thousand lanterns.

February 9: Shenzhen Kirin Team, Yunnan University Dragon and Lion Dance Team, Nepal Usu Federation Dragon and Lion Dance Team are going on a 3-day tour,

February 10: Operation of “Hay Year Cup” China-Nepal friendly football match

February 12-14 Spring Festival Temple Fair: The Kathmandu Spring Festival Temple Fair will have open-air artistic performances, Chinese and Nepali food, cultural exhibitions, commodity exhibitions, book fairs and more. We spent New Years together in Nepal.

The inauguration event was celebrated with the colourful, skilful, amusing and energetic performances of Chinese magic, Yunan provincial song and dance ensemble, Nepalese dance, aureate peacock, drum pedalling; an intangible Yunan cultural heritage and a beautiful ending of the event through an ode to spring with Chinese traditional instruments by Chinese orchestra of Kunming.
