December 19, Ramechhap. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has expressed his belief that today will be a milestone in terms of electricity trade, stating that an agreement has been signed for 10,000 megawatt electricity trade for 10 years from today.
The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the administrative building constructed in Sunapati rural municipality of Ramechhap district on Thursday afternoon.
Inaugurating the administrative building, the Prime Minister emphasized that the agreement reached during the visit of Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar to Nepal will lead to a qualitative leap in Nepal's energy trade sector.
In the program, the Prime Minister said, "During my visit to India, an agreement was reached between Nepal to sell 10,000 electricity to India for ten years. The visit of the Foreign Minister of India to Nepal has now resulted in a concrete agreement for Nepal to export electricity. This is a historic achievement in itself. Not only in India, but also with Bangladesh. The door to export has opened. Now there will be electricity trade with Bangladesh using India's grid."
The prime minister made it clear that the ruling coalition wants national consensus to complete the remaining work related to the effective operation of the parliament and transitional justice.
"This power alliance is not an alliance made with little pain, so we are all determined to strengthen the alliance. However, national consensus is necessary on some issues, it is in the interest of the country and democracy. Now we want national consensus to complete the work related to the effective operation of the House and transitional justice" said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister appealed to the people's representatives to focus on the provision of services in accordance with administrative buildings, development of education-health, promotion of agriculture-tourism and creation of employment while making good progress in the physical development of Sunapati rural municipality in Ramechhap district.
