Nepal's capital city is considering extending the lockdown by next two weeks with the surge in COVID-19 cases.

The District Administration Offices of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur are likely to extend the ongoing prohibitory order by another 15 days.

An official decision regarding the same is expected on Tuesday.

With the rapidly increasing cases of coronavirus infection across the nation, especially in the capital city, the Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre made such recommendation.

The crisis management centre had recommended the imposition of prohibitory order in districts having over 500 active cases in urban and Terai areas, and over 200 active cases in hilly and mountain areas.

Following this, the three DAOs had decided to impose a prohibitory order starting April 29 till May 5, but it was extended till May 12.

All the vehicular movements have been halted, the bussinesses have been shut down during the ongoing lockdown, while only emergency services are open.
