Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the land east of the Mahakali River, which has been seized by India, rightfully belongs to Nepal and that serious discussions are being held with the Indian government to regain the land.
While interacting with journalists of international media houses at his official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday, PM Oli mentioned that since India had been using that land for a very long time it will take some time to repossess it. He further mentioned that since the land east of the Mahakali River that India has been claiming belongs to Nepal, it has been included in the political and administrative maps of Nepal and also in the constitutional schedule and dialogue is being held with India on the issue.
PM Oli further said that since Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulek are currently under India’s possession, talks are being held to repossess those places. He added that Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulek have been under India’s possession for the last 58 years and we have to get it back through dialogue. He said that the government is making all the efforts to bring that land under Nepal’s possession.
The prime minister also said that there are misunderstandings at times with neighbours and the best way to resolve them is always through meaningful talks. He added that he is confident that the issue will be resolved soon through dialogue as Nepal and India have been sharing a cordial relation since years.
Moreover, PM Oli mentioned that there have been allegations against him at times for going against India and at times for doing things as per the Indian government’s direction. He said that how could two allegations of such nature be true.
