Raj Kundra arrested in pornography case

Raj Kundra was arrested by Mumbai Police on Monday night for allegedly making pornographic films and publishing them through mobile applications.

Mumbai Police Monday arrested businessman Raj Kundra in connection with a ponography case.

According to the city police, Kundra has been arrested in a case registered by its crime branch pertaining to creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some mobile based- applications.

“There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in Feb 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this,” the Mumbai police said in a press statement.

Kundra is the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. His lawyers were not immediately available for comment.

Kundra has been arrested in connection with the case of a pornography racket busted by Mumbai police in February. A total of nine accused have been arrested in the said case. The racket was busted after some women, who had been promised roles in web series were allegedly made to act in porn movies under duress, approached the police after the accused were arrested.

Kundra, in the past has been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its money laundering probe against late gangster Iqbal Memon alias Iqbal Mirchi, and DHFL promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan. The agency is probing certain illegal properties acquired by the slain henchman of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim which the agency is treating as proceeds of crime.
