KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s popularity has increased by 12 percent to 43 percent in January 2024 as compared to February/March last year, IRIS Communications public opinion survey revealed.
During the same period, Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf’s popularity decreased by 8 percent to 35 percent.
The findings also emphasized the importance of a stable government to address broader issues as well as changes in the political parties’ classification. The IRIS Communications survey also reflected changes in the rankings of political parties in the recent survey of January 2024 as compared to February/March 2023. PTI’s popularity among the public has dropped from 43 percent to 35 percent, indicating a decline in voting in the upcoming elections. PMLN saw an increase in popularity, which increased from 31 percent to 43 percent.
Central Punjab appeared to play an important role in the popularity of the PML(N). According to almost half of the respondents, PML(N) will form the next government. A majority of 54 percent of the respondents believed that a stable government was the solution to the current geographical, political and socio-economic problems. During the survey, people termed political stability as indispensable for achieving prosperity.
