Kathmandu, Feb 10: On the occasion of Chinese New Year 2024 a traditional Chinese Dragon dance, Lion dance and Unicron dance was enthusiastically performed at the mid of Durbarmarg road continuously for the second day early morning on Saturday with the huge Nepalese, Chinese and foreigners crowd joing it as a cheerful audience. The performance was first performed on the busy road of Thamel on Friday. The Chinese New Year and Tamang's New Year Sonam Loshar clashes on the same date to double the joy of New Year Celebration.
The 2024 Chinese lunar new year parade was organised by Embassy of People's Republic of China to Nepal in the strong collaboration with Department of Heritage and Tourism, Kathmandu Metropolitan City along with Dragon and lion dance team of Yunnan university of China.
The energetic performers on dragon dances were the combination of both Yunnan university and Nepalese students on Kung Fu. Only Kung Fu practitioners can perform these dances which was hence helped by Nepalese Wusu Federation Team. Likewise, the event was added with the Nepalese flavour of varieties of Nepalese cultural dance performances.
However, as the celebratory event of Dragon year 2024, the ceremony begun with Chief guests Sewa Lamsal, Foreign Secretary of Nepal and Ambassador Chen Song painting the distinguished parts of huge dragon with red which was believed to be a process that gives soul and power to the dragon. With the completion of the serene act of dotting, the crowd applauded, drums gonged and dragon jumped high beginning the lively and spirited dragon dance performance which is regarded as a good luck.
Subsequently, lion dance and unicorn dances were performed which are usually performed in every auspicious Chinese events. As these powerful animals are believed to bring positivity, happiness and good luck to the human world. Dragon is the symbol of strength power and confident which brings home this belief that dragon new year will bring prosperity and joy to Chinese people and world.
Sewa Lamsal, Foreign Secretary of Nepal as a Chief guest laid the message on the stage of event that Nepal's and Nepalese participation on this auspicious event of Chinese has given Nepalese tremendous delight as Nepal is very much eager to learn from the development of China to excellent it's development directory.
Ambassador of China to Nepal, His Excellency Chen Song, addresses the celebration to be an opportunity for the celebration of China-Nepal friendship and also make the overseas Chinese feel home in Nepal.
Nepal Tamang Culture Ghedung performed the Tamang dance on the street. Simultaneously, traditional cultural Nepalese Laakhey Naach(Laakhey Dance) and Kumari Naach(Kumari Dance) were performed which was followed by LRI School's students Chinese Cultural Fan Dance.
