Jan. 21: Locals in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City are found violating the rules of the sub-metropolis causing risks of accidents and traffic management.
The sub-metropolis prohibits its denizens from storing construction materials like gravel, bricks, iron rods, and sand on street corners and public spaces for a long period. If needed the locals are required to get permission from the ward office of the sub-metropolitan office.
Meanwhile, the piling up of construction materials is seen at many places in the city for days and the sub-metropolis is seen failing to implement the rule.
Mubarak Siddiki, a local of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-11, said that the sub-metropolis failed to remove construction materials though it had obstructed roads increasing the risks of vehicle accidents.
Ram Suresh Yadav, a local of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-13, questioned why the sub-metropolis did not take any action against such activities. It even created hindrances for pedestrians, he added.
Locals complained that the city police had ignored them even when people were found piling up construction materials in the middle of roads. This also created difficulty in traffic management. Though they made a complaint to the concerned authorities, no action had been taken.
The locals of Sadarline, Triveni Section, Ranitalau Road, Tribhuvan Chowk, and Eidgha Road are found storing construction materials on the roads while constructing their houses.
Meanwhile, Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Kamaruddin Rai said that they will not allow anyone to store construction materials in public spaces and roads.
He said city police and employees were constantly monitoring the activities. He also urged its denizens to inform the sub-metropolitan office if anyone is found compiling construction materials on roads.
